Editorial Reviews:

“Dr. Leonard has succeeded in revealing the mechanism of an all too common psychological scenario. Her work examines the unconscious dynamic of the victimizer, and the unconscious participation of the victim, in a painful and dysfunctional cycle. Many can benefit from the insight her writings can offer and, perhaps, free themselves, and their children, from the pain of this psychological prison.” David Sonego, MD, Adult Psychiatrist

“In training, we all get exposure to the concept of projective identification. Most often, it only is discussed in the context of a therapy session. Dr. Leonard uses this text to demonstrate how big of a role it can play within the walls of a counselor’s office and in life. I have known Dr. Leonard to be a skilled clinician and a trusted colleague. Any individual who has been in a problematic relationship can benefit from her insight and empathy.” Benjamin Troy M.D., Child, and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Leonard’s book, Emotional Terrorism, gave me a sense of what the children and the families may be facing. It helped me realize that my influence as a teacher may be one of the only positive parts of a student’s day, year, or life.

    Well worth the read.
I highly recommend it. I bought the book but after I started reading it I saw that it described perfectly my daughter’s mother-in-law. I gave her the book immediately. She called me after reading the first 2 chapters and told me that she was so glad I gave her the book because she had thought the situation, she was in was all in her mind. She now could verify there were actually other people like her mother-in-law and she wasn’t alone in her struggles. The book is well worth the read and I encourage anyone in a troubling situation to give it a try.
