Dr. Barbara Carr devoted herself to all aspects of education and began her career as a senior executive with the Georgia Department of Education. Other positions included the director of Early Childhood Education at Peabody of Vanderbilt, head of the Early Childhood Department at North Georgia College, and international leadership roles with multiple organizations. Dr. Carr led the Head Start and Follow-Through programs with the Johnston County Schools and wrote children’s books.
Barbara received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Atlantic Christian College. She earned two master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina in elementary and early childhood education. Barbara received her Ph.D. from Duke University and later was certified as a parent educator by the University of Missouri.
Barbara was also very active in the community, being a member of numerous organizations. When Dr. Carr had free time, she traveled the world and loved to play bridge. She loved the beach and went to Topsail Island in North Carolina for 40 years.
