Derek Whordley

Dr. Derek Whordley is a professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and was the Dean at their School of Education. Dr. Whordley is from England, where he received his undergraduate degree and began his teaching career. He taught infants and toddlers in primary schools and then became the Headmaster of the British Embassy School in Ankara, Turkey. As a Department Chair and Dean, he introduced study abroad programs in the United Kingdom. Whordley’s early work included visiting schools and giving presentations in other countries, including the United States.

Dr. Whordley received his graduate degree and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He was a Professor of Education at Mercer University in Atlanta before going to Duquesne. His specialties include classroom teaching and early childhood development. Dr. Whordley resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
