Description

Gender often construed physically and static can be a malleable journey of identity for some. This book can serve as a spiritual guide for anyone seeking a resource. The Tao of Gender provides a peaceful path to those on the journey of transgenderism and transsexuality. Many people make the mistake and interchange gender with sexuality. Some argue gender is a product of one’s environment; others claim genetics. What is gender? The answer continues to elude, and Witten’s introspective work explores the mystery of gender identity.

Integrating various Taoist principles, author Taryn Witten felt a personal need to provide peaceful reading for an often misunderstood journey. The Tao of Gender will help anyone along in their identity journey. Witten helps readers find balance by tapping into their infinite capacity for resourcefulness and wisdom.

  4. Lisa Quesne

Person first not gender I met this author at a national conference… what a powerful and gentle person! This book is a gentle meditation on the journey that transgender people undertake. It awoke my compassion and inspired me to think about gender as a fluid experience rather than a designation written in stone at birth. I have continued after reading this book and meeting the author, to think about my own prejudices and fears on the subject and how spirituality unites us all in a search for an authentic self. I am inspired by the courage of transgender people and intersex people who travel a road that must at times be so lonely and terrifying.
